Apologies if its the wrong sub, but not sure where to post it!
For context I mostly do it unaware in winters, mostly if I'm bored, or stressed out. I can literally sit at work & pick/rub at the hangnails zoned out for hours. Been doing this since I was a kid. (I was diagnosed with add like a year or 2 ago, so might have to do with that)
I can go weeks without picking, & then somehow I pick my skin again. I do clip it off once I get bored & never pull the skin so that it'd start bleeding.it's mostly on the sides of my nails & ontop of the cuticles
My bf suggested getting some rings to fidget with instead.
What else could I do to break the habits? I tried nail oils/cuticle oils, I keep it up for 3 weeks & then forget the routine :/

I would get some acrylics that are on the bulkier side so you can’t get a grip on the skin. Cuticle oil and hand cream at night to promote healing
Getting nails done consistently pressons if can’t afford
