I’ve bought 2 off these & have had them for a while & I really don’t get the hype. 🤷🏻‍♀️ The magnet lid constantly flies off ruining my nails 85% of the time. Magnet also isn’t very strong (Doesn’t give a strong bead effect if it manages to stay on). I’ve tried spinning slow and fast from different parts of the magnet and It’s no use. I’ve been trying to do 4 nails for almost 3 hours 🫩 & just ended up with a mess on the new table protector I just layed out today. I’m ready to yank my hair out 💀 At this point I might just super glue the lid 🫠 I used this a few other times and It’s always the same issue.

I think folks have said the effect is less pronounced on longer nails, so that may explain why it seems like the magnets aren’t strong enough. I have this device and it works great for me, though my nails are shorter. I have had the issue of the top flinging off but if I don’t spin dramatically/quickly, it stays put for me.

  3. I’ve had it (the top) fly off and mess up a nail before, too. I think there is definitely a learning curve and it sounds like you’ve practiced a lot, so I’m sorry it hasn’t gotten easier yet or given you good results. I also have short nails, so I can’t speak to how well it works or not with your gorgeous long nails. Normally I spin it as fast as I can. I just did them with my horseshoe mag stuck over top and had to re-learn my speed and spinning technique since the whole contraption is weighted differently now! I spin slower but still try to be kind of fast.

  4. The first (and so far only) method I tried [https://www.reddit.com/r/RedditLaqueristas/comments/1nndjly/notinsane_glass_bead_technique_for_if_you_like/](https://www.reddit.com/r/RedditLaqueristas/comments/1nndjly/notinsane_glass_bead_technique_for_if_you_like/)

The result [https://www.reddit.com/r/shortynails/comments/1p1hrk9/butterfly_wings/](https://www.reddit.com/r/shortynails/comments/1p1hrk9/butterfly_wings/) I only did it on my thumb as I wasn’t sure if I’d like it. Magnetized for maybe 30 seconds. This was my first time trying it. Video taken the next day.

You might need to use a taller base? Idk how to explain it but it’s like for long nails it seems the mag needs more distance for the fields to really get a nice bead.

  6. I’ve found that putting a finger on the top and spinning that way helps with it flying off. If I try to spin from the side, it goes flying. A little bit of pressure and steady spinning is the ticket.

  7. OP, I am having the same frustration. Other people‘s nails looked so gorgeous after using this, and so I bought one and it is just not working for me.

  8. The easiest and cleanest ways in my opinion are:

Manually with a rod magnet: https://a.co/d/7jUimWF

    SJ3designs glass bead maker: https://sj3designs.com/password / https://sj3designs.com/products/glassify

    Lab stirrer: https://a.co/d/hTBgsbe

Rotating stand 30lb horseshoe on top: https://a.co/d/eeT9z73

Have you tried just using the rubber band method? I’ve never used any special devices because they seem fiddly and like you’d have to continually spin some of them. I just twist the magnet attached to the rubber band, then hold it in a comfortable position and let it spin back and forth until it slows down, rinse repeat. It’s easy enough that I’ve never considered getting any of these specialized devices.

I have the 5D spinner and I just used the middle level height and spin really fast. And I set a timer for 1 minute on each nail so I am consistent with the time.

I found it tricky to decide where to place my finger inside since I can’t really see it on the line. So some of my fingers are a bit inconsistent because of that.

I also did 2 coats and a top coat, and magnetized each time. Took a while 🙂
