Since I started working at a daycare, my nails have been breaking non stop. I'm fine with that but the issue is they break TOO deep. They get stuck on things all the time and I cant break them off because they break too deep and it would hurt to remove them. Its happening constantly and Im so fucking tired of it

  1. Oh this looks painful and frustrating to just look at!
I think you might need one of the nail break kits that’s adds a layer to your nail while it grows out. I get these sorts of breaks when I’m tired aka clumsy

  2. For the breaks themselves, there’s options like the teabag and glue method, or a silk wrap or powder repair kit that can go on top of the break and keep it safe while it grows out. I’ve had similar deep breaks after a round of antibiotics wrecked my nail health, and the powder repair kit stopped me from doing more damage.

For general nail health I recommend extra oiling and moisturising where you can to keep your nails more pliable so that they bend rather than break. I also take collagen and have noticed a marked improvement in their strength.

Wearing polish can also act as “armor” for the nails. I’m not well versed in some of the “strengtheners” on the market but someone might be able to recommend one. They’re usually nude colours too if polish is a no-no at work.

And finally, I know daycare and childcare is so busy and hands on, but identifying potential stress points and things you’re doing with your nails can help. For me my middle finger was peeling and always the one to break, and it turned out can tabs were the culprit.

I swapped to using my knuckle or a tool to open them and don’t have peeling or breakage anymore. It’s possible there’s something you’re doing with your thumb that’s putting stress on the nail!

  3. Strengthener base coat for every manicure + the teabag and glue method is what works the best for me.
