Been working on my nails all year, using advice I’ve found from the sub. I did use this nail to open a key ring. I think that contributed. 😫 Would love to know what others do when this happens. Cut them to match? Have one short nail? Glue on a nail tip?

i usually cut them to match (unless it’s my thumb or pinky) 😭 but aghhh i hate it so much like one ruins it for all of them

Gel overlay to glue the broken nail back on edit: I use orly builder gel to repair breaks

  4. aww im sorry this happened, i know it can be frustrating!! for me, if i am not yet ready for a reset and I just have one or two broken i will leave them. using a press on would def work too, i just person dont like how they feel. “jewels not tools” is something i repeat to myself about my nails to try and combat roughly using them 🤣 lots of jojoba oil! beautiful nails <3

  5. I haven’t even managed to get my nails as long as your, so take this with a grain of salt. My advanced technique after something like this happens is:
    1. Cry
    2. Debate whether I should chop of the rest or if I can convince myself it doesn’t look that bad with one short
    3. Cry again
    4. Chop off everything to match
    5. Cry again
    6. Stare longingly at pics of previous manicures with the old length

Crying can be replaced with just feeling an short intense burst of sadness and internalizing it. For me it depends on where I am in my monthly cycle lol

  6. My number 1 tip is to never use your nails as tools! I’m sorry that happened, I get so sad when I break a nail 😭
I’ve done the tea bag method before where you use nail glue and part of a tea bag to make a cast, but I find it doesn’t hold well when my nails are long and with a clean break like that. What I do in that case is file them all down (cause I personally hate uneven nail lengths, but you do you) and be sad about it for awhile, but let them grow back healthy and strong again.

Force my nail to live in shame for letting us all down. Until it grows back, it can live with the consequences of its actions.

When one of mine broke recently, I used a fake tip to match. But then 3 more nails broke so I chopped them all. 🥹🥲

If the break is even I’ve often just glue them back on with brush-on glue. Once the glue is dry, I’ll sand it down a little bit so it’s not as lumpy, then re-color.
