I’ll preface by saying I don’t get my nails done often and don’t know much about the intricacies of nail art. I found this picture on instagram and brought it to a nail salon as inspo, and they said it has to be a sticker and it has to be done with gel polish. Is that true? I feel like I’ve seen salons do this sort of thing with regular polish?

Of course. They are being lazy. They just need to use a detail brush. It’s easy. I’ve cons harder designs with regular polish when I was 15.
Absolutely it can, I did something similar on myself a few weeks ago with regular polish.
Editing to add that I am by no means skilled and have only done designs on myself a small handful of times, and this was relatively easy. Definitely find a new nail place.
Yes you can get it done with normal nail polish. The pattern can be done by stickers or nail stamp. Hope it helps!!
It can, but it requires decent skill to do a fine line design like that with lacquer that’ll air dry quickly since there’s so little polish. If they were my nails, I’d choose a stamp or sticker, or at the very least gel polish, but that’s because I’m a diyer with limited art abilities using regular polish.
