I changed my polish just for the satisfaction of a perfect application and then… messed them up. Real bad. Fixed it the best I could but its just so frustrating when I know what I can get perfect lines 😭 (I also did this instead of studying for multiple midterms this week and now feel extra stupid)

Aww, I’m sure you’ll have a better go next time. It sounds like you’re pretty stressed out, which would make it harder to get really clean application *and* harder to cope with the frustration of not doing as well as you’d like to. But you can try again and do better next time, so try not to be too hard on yourself <3
(And personally I flood my cuticles pretty much every time I paint my nails and just live and die by my cleanup brush lol. You’re already doing better than plenty of us!)

I feel you. It’s ok it’s still a pretty color and there’s always next time!
Ugh I feel your frustration 😅right now I’m having the opposite problem—tried so hard to avoid flooding my cuticles that my brand new mani looks grown out😭
I flood my cuticles on purpose, I don’t like gaps around my nails.
so real, especially with purples and reds that don’t clean up perfectly 🥲 it’s not noticeable unless you’re looking for it and the shade looks great on you!
It happens to everyone at some point ❤️. I have this suuuper pigmented red that’s on the thin side and is therefore a pain in the @ss not to flood my cuticles with, leaving me with fingernails that look bloodstained 😅🫣. My main way of countering that is to have a clean up brush and bottle of acetone on hand, and the *second* I flood a cuticle, swap the polish brush for my clean up brush (dipped in acetone) and carefully swipe along the cuticle line before the pigment soaks into my skin too much. Otherwise, just taking some deep breaths and slowing down the painting process can help. The more frustrated I get, the sloppier I paint unless I actively take a minute to cool down. Your application looks great other than that!
It’s okay, your mani looks fabulous. I’ve never been good at laying a perfect coat right to the line. I either flood or have to paint the inner 90% of the nail and not worry about the edge. And at least whatever gets on the skin usually just comes off in the shower over a few days
I have hand tremors, so people are just going to have to deal with my not perfect nail polish application.
I would be SO proud if my manicure came out that neat on both hands. Usually my left hand is good and right looks like a preschooler did it. I personally prefer to flood my cuticles, though, so I am probably not the person to advise.
That shade is beautiful though and suits you well.
I struggle with this too because I want them to look perfect, but I always end up doing my nails at the end of the night after my child is asleep which actually makes for the not perfect application because I’m sleepy too. But don’t stress they still look good and the color is so pretty!!
I use a tooth pic when this happens
Gorgeous colour, though!
I hate when this happens. I’m always trying to get as close to the cuticle as possible because my nails grow like crazy. Mostly, I use a clean-up brush, but sometimes I paint a line along the edge of my cuticle as close to my cuticle as I can with a fine nail brush and then paint as normal. I use the same brush to fill in any gaps as I go.
Your nails look pretty.
I flood my cuticles so bad everytime but I think k of the absolute unit of a shower that comes next day and I relax
Clean up brush (gotta say this like Lipstick taser)
Dark colors are the worst for this! I use the pointy end of an orange wood stick to clean out the cuticle area as soon as it floods, which typically prevents the staining of the skin that happens if you wait to clean up until the end of the mani. If there is any staining or left over polish, the next morning I scrub my nails with a nail brush and all the excess and stains come right off.
