I see a lot of rave reviews about ilnp and they have a great selection and reasonable prices. But I am just not having a great experience with them. The crème I bought is clumpy and hard to get even coverage and the magnetics are just … meh. I’ve used their holographic jellies and had a decent experience with those, but everything else is awfully disappointing. Is it just me?

I spent way too much time doing my nails today and they just look like a gold chrome polish. Maybe it would look better if I did cat eye versus velvet? Either way I mean they’re fine but definitely not nearly as nice compared to other manis I’ve done and other magnetics I’ve used. Am I spoiled because Mooncat was my gateway drug? Lol

  1. I have similar feelings regarding their magnetics. I keep feeling like it’s user error because I can not get any of them to look like swatches I see here or on IG.

I don’t do magnetics so I can’t speak to them, but for everything else I love their formulas more than most polish brands. Maybe it’s a bad batch and you can reach out to their customer service?

I don’t like fawn or Frankie but I love their collection that has velveteen and teddy in it. Sandbar is also great. They are hit or miss with magnetics. Their jellies with flakes/holos though….💯

I usually do cat eye style and absolutely love their magnetics. Hard to say what is preference and what is a polish by polish thing. Since you have them may as well try them in the cat eye and see what you think and if it doesn’t work maybe it just isn’t the brand for you, who knows? I know I just don’t like holo taco polishes even though people rave about them so sometimes they just aren’t a fit for us.

  5. Hey, not everyone likes every polish brand. That’s okay! I don’t like Mooncat. I find their formulas hard to work with, swatches are misleading, and they’re way overpriced. On the other hand, I have about 75 ILNPs and love every single one of them.

I had the same experience with Fawn. It shows every flaw and it just seems dull. I had such high expectations for it too. 🥲

I generally really like ILNP and think their polishes perform well in my experience, although I think I have mostly bought holographic jellies and metallic polishes from them. I noticed however you used a top coat with toluene in it, it’s generally thought that magnetic polish doesn’t do as well with toluene-containing top coats.

  8. I have fawn and much prefer it cat eye. It’s quite a chunky, rustic polish – personally I don’t think it lends itself well to velvet

  9. I do think some , not all, magnets are weak (I have 7) And a very strong magnet gets results. Also your top coat is bad for magnet finish.

  10. Some magnetics are more suited to one magnetization technique vs another. I’d try this one cat eye to see if you like it any better before destashing, but if you still don’t like it that’s valid.

  11. I haven’t used Fawn, I will say I’ve been very happy with their magnetics overall though I’ve had to add thinner right away for some (like the new Mood Ring). I too am not a big fan of their cremes. Everything else I’ve been super happy with. Say Love, Showtime, Downtown, Starlight, Glowstick, and Enchantment are some of my current favorites.

  12. I’ve had the same experience with Fawn and sugar plum. I do like the venom magnetic and the cremes have worked out well for me. But yes, it’s not a perfect brand and has a few duds for sure. But I do think Fawn is the worst out of my collection, all the rest have been quite nice.

  13. side note: im okay with their polishes but some of my magnetics smell TERRIBLE (specifically VIP, after hours) i also hate the thin brush but i feel like theyre just such an accessible and customer friendly brand i cant let them go 😭
