The lab stirrer does not have a strong enough magnetic pull to do a crisp super glassy glass bead. The spinners from Etsy do, but you have to manually spin them the entire time. A motorized rotating display stand paired with a 30 lb horseshoe magnet gives you the strong magnetic pull combined with the laziness of the lab stirrer.

The display stand is slow even at its top speed, so there is no concern of the magnet flying off, and its slow speed does not impede its ability to bead.

Plus you could actually use the display stand for other things too, unlike the lab stirrer (unless of course you work in a lab).

Awesome, thank you for your research! Did you glue the magnet to the display stand, or does it stay in place without doing that?

  2. THANK YOU! Thank you! THANK YOU 🤩!

I’ve been trying to find the most optimal solution for me to try the bead magnetic effect. I was undecided between a lego set-up and the lab stirrer. The lab stirrer is easier to use than the lego set-up but I think you get worst results with it. And the lego set-up you need to manually spin it so I risk to damage my mani when applying the polish 😬 (yeah, I’m quite clumsy…)

BUT a rotating display stand?? That’s an amazing idea!

Do people also use lab stirrers to agitate and mix old polishes they’ve had to add thinner to?
