Tell me your nail polish pet peeves! Formula, brushes, bottles, marketing – anything. Looking for the very specific, picky, and petty, lol.

I'll go first: I get bummed out when polishes are marketed as shimmers (which I love), but upon closer inspection, are micro-flakies, which are very different to my shimmer-fixated brain (looking at you, ILNP). 🧐

I just learned that certain shades of purple fade pretty badly over time! That is my new biggest pet peeve. Especially when some bottles are close to $20!

  2. Y’all are gonna *hate* me for this, but… wide brushes being the default. My nail beds are teeny tiny and most brushes these days are too damn big!!

    – FOMO marketing
    – Top coats that shrink your polish
    – Formulas that are released that need a thinner (why did you release it if it wasn’t figured out yet)

While I love the idea of being ‘unique’ or ‘original’ long a$$ shade names are so annoying to me 😂 no I don’t want to have to tell someone “The trees are waving in the wind even though it’s autumn and the leaves are all about to fall off” when they ask what I’m wearing 😂😂😂
I also don’t like ‘thick’ brushes! Wider paddle style is fine I don’t mean that, but some are thick and kind of stiff? LA Colors is a given but some of my Morgan Taylor and a Sassy Sauce I just got also seem thick lol idk how exactly to explain it 😅

Pretty much all the FOMO methods of sale. I buy so much less indie polish for this reason. The timed drops and never restocking? Can’t be bothered.

Jelly formulas…i love them but they always take so long to dry and i end up messing at least 2 nails up hours after doing them even with a quick dry top coat.

Matte finishes…whats the point if you still have to use a glossy quick dry top coat then go back over it once dry with a matte topper? Am i missing something? Maybe theres a quick dry matte top coat i dont know about🤷🏻‍♀️

  7. Matte toppers are so ugly….. Im sorry…. They look bad and are a sensory nightmare…..

When a polish has nice glitter but the amount in it means it doesn’t distribute evenly when painting the nail. I do NOT want to be fishing around on my nail praying it looks even enough to stop messing with. And then im constantly comparing nails’ glitter amount the entire time i wear it.
