I’m a longtime nail biter who has been growing them out for about two months. A friend suggested I go to a salon for dip polish with acrylic tips. I showed the tech several examples of the low-key, nude style of nails I like but ended up with this. I have to go to a work conference this week and am so embarrassed about how these look. Am I just being self-conscious or are these actually really bad? What should I do?

Ooo NO! why are they so circular lol id definitely go back and ask for them to be redone! That isn’t how they should look in my opinion. I’m sorry that happened!
Tell them “I didn’t ask for eggs and I got eggs. I would like them to be redone or completely removed and a full refund”
Okay so I think they tried to work with your length and shaping choice. Short nails are notoriously hard to make look good with a rounded or oval shape.
If you do get them redone, you should try getting square shape and frankly a different color. The color is really flesh toned and not as flattering. I think a soft pink or a mauve would look nice.
Also, I don’t recommend going back to the same salon. Let someone take these off and start over.

i’m not a nail tech but i’ve been educated by many nail techs. if you do “dip with acrylic tips” it’s just an acrylic set. dip and acrylic are damn near the same thing i’d just go for a full set and get gel polish a full set is acrylic that’s what you probably want
These are bad. Tell them to redo with a different tech or refund you so you can go somewhere else to get them fixed.

I’m sorry but these look terrible, shape is all wrong and the color is so off. You should go back and complain and get a refund or have them redone. I don’t think that tech was very experienced, at the very least they should know what shade of nude suits what skin tone! For a work conference go with a standard shade of red, pink, or a darker nude. Or a short square French. That light shade makes you look like you’re sick tbh.

Personally, I would go back, get a refund, and then go to a different place entirely to get my nails done.
And I’m going to echo the short square suggestion as well. You have wide and round nail beds – any short roundish shape will wind up looking eggy. And French is the way to go, imo. With a barely there pink color, like ballet slippers.
Think you need an apex so that the middle doesn’t look flat
