For context, im in north Carolina and not in a city.
I contacted the shop because it felt like I was mischarged.
But nope. It was a 55 dollar fill (makes sense) but a 5 dollar fee for a cut down and reshape (okay fine for the reshape) but then an extra 5 for medium length (this doesn't seem medium to me?) And 25 for the design (2 "tortoise" nails per hand and the more I look at it; the more im like unhappy with the "tortoise")
Thoughts????

Sounds normal!
Definitely scammed, can’t believe you got charged for shaping?! That’s sooo basic, and the cuticle work is all wrong (ie no cleaning up of the nail bed and the paint is splattered on the cuticle). Wow, I would run away from that chop shop salon and write an honest review.
For a fill?! No way.
$25 for the design when each one is different lengths from your cuticle, your ring finger cuticle doesn’t look as good as the others and the pinky nail is messy. Girlllll
Definitely got scammed — I can’t believe they charged you for shaping?! That’s like the most basic thing ever. And the cuticle work? Totally off. No cleanup around the nail bed, and the polish is literally on the cuticle. Honestly, I’d stay far away from that place and leave a truthful review.
Seemed like a standard price to me until I saw that you’re in the states. I would pay that price in CANADIAN dollars, maybe your nail tech charges more than average if there’s not a lot of other techs around? Also, weird that she charged for a cut down/reshape separately. Usually that’s included with a fill, and usually length is only extra if it’s long, not medium. Seems a little fishy overall (I do think the tortoise looks nice tho)
80 bucks for sloppy work is crazy. Only one thing to do now. Leave reviews with pictures!
Thats super expensive!
New set or fill, it sounds steep for the quality of work, whatever the price was it doesn’t meet pro standards.
I’m in a big city and a fill is not 55 bucks, a completely fresh set of dip nails with tips runs about 70 though.
Sure it’s overpriced for what you got. That doesn’t mean it’s a “scam”: ask for prices before agreeing to purchase something next time.Â
I got charged $10 without being notified before hand for reshaping on a fill. I was not happy. What the hell are we paying for with the $55 fill charge if it doesn’t include filing the nails back down?
Cuticle work and shaping should be part of the cost of a manicure, but I know some places will charge extra for almond or stiletto because they take longer to shape well.Â
That price for perfect work wouldn’t bother me. No way would I pay $80 for that much gel on my cuticles.Â
