I’ve been using this brand’s sunscreen for years — the Sensitive version — and honestly, it’s always been one of the best. But everything changed when I switched to the Daily Moisture formula.
I started using that one for almost a year without realizing it was the reason behind my dry, burning eyes. At first, I thought it was because of tretinoin, but nope, it wasn’t. On October 10, I applied this sunscreen and felt the stinging again. I blamed it on lack of sleep or tretinoin, but turns out it wasn’t that at all.
After a few days, I used it again and the same thing happened — stinging, irritation, and then my lower eyelid got inflamed. It hurt every time I blinked, and when I pulled it slightly to check, I saw it was so red, way more than normal. Like, it didn’t just look a little pink — it was angrily red. Honestly, I still didn’t realize it was because of the sunscreen, haha.
But no, by the morning of October 30, I finally figured it out — it was this damn sunscreen. I used it again and felt the same burning sensation in my eyes. A few hours later, even after I got home, it still burned. I thought maybe I’d just gotten sensitive to sunlight or something??? But nope — as soon as I washed my face, the burning went away.
And guess what? After I woke up, the other eye — which had been totally fine before — started showing the exact same symptoms. 😩 I was so frustrated, but I still had to go to work. Before leaving, I tried a Korean sunscreen stick, and surprisingly, I didn’t feel any of the irritation that I got from the Banana Boat Daily Moisture. Not even a little bit.
