just what the title says! I've seen some people saying the dewyful water tint was the major culprit, and other people saying all their lip products gave them reactions. if I'm not wrong, rom&nd said they'll launch a project zero in 2026 and rerelease their shades in a new formula, but until then, are you guys still buying their lip products, or staying away from them until the new formula is out?
for context, since people are asking: romand reported a 300x spike in complaints about irritation, dryness and cheilitis since may 2025, this year. apparently, i was mistaken and the formula people complained about the most was the juicy lasting tint (sorry, got that dewyful info from my friend!!)
they have since refunded people who had such reactions and have run tests, and there have been complaints about dyes such as red 202 and red 201 (but those are also common dyes used in many lip products), as well as a fast evaporating solvent. because of that, rom&nd posted a project zero, both on their official instagram and website: https://romand.co.kr/article/이벤트/13/180057
as far as i know, they're releasing that project only in 2026, with a new formula without irritants, but there's still a lot of customers who aren't satisfied by their response

I’m not buying their lip products. I just don’t understand why they would change a formula that got them that big and popular in the first place. Hopefully they just go back to their original formula.
afaik, only the juicy lasting tints were involved in the controversy and the other products are fine, so i think it’s fine to still buy the other lip products in their range.
I’m out of the loop, what controversy?
You’re missing some key context here OP. Some of us haven’t heard of this controversy
Even before the cheilitis controversy, I felt the romand jlt was really flakey and not suitable for dry lips. Their glasting gloss is still really nice, but it’s also really thick and pigmented… The colours were really nice though.
For the users who don’t know, the Romand JLT has allegedly been causing a lot of allergic reactions (cheilitis), so Romand recalled their JLTs and has been working on renewing their product to “JLT Zero”. You can find more information online or on Romand’s official Instagram page.
What??? I use the juicy lip tints for a over a year and I have never had any issues. What is the controversy??
Not the OP but to those wondering, romand lip products saw a spike in complaints earlier this year with consumers experiencing cheilitis, dryness and irritation.
The culprit was either a type of red dye or an evaporating solvent. In response to this the company launched Project Zero to reformulate products without the irritating ingredient.
Personally I’ll wait for the reformulations since I have a good amount of lip products in rotation! It’ll help me (finally!) clear out my drawer 😂
I’m waiting. I didn’t like the reformulation even before this controversy. I repurchased Bare Grape in the new formula shortly after launch and it is not the same color imo.
The new formula is more drying and intense in color, which is disappointing. I’ve always preferred a lot of other brands’ lip formulas, but I kept buying Romand because of their muted color selection. The formula vs color tradeoff is no longer worth it.
I was going to buy one and then heard it had for dry lips anyway, this controversy just made me not want to buy it at all, despite the colours looking really nice. I ended up getting the tir tir ones and even though the colour selection isn’t as appealing it’s good for dry lips.
Nope. Decided to try Entropy, Timephoria, and Fwee meanwhile
I think Romand was a great gateway for me to discover Asian beauty lip products and color range but since then I’ve branched away and found imo better options.
