I bought into the hype, and she certainly didn’t disappoint! I realized recently that Sassy Sauce is local to me, so I thought I’d make a small order and see if it lived up to the expectations.

I ordered 3 polishes – Cock a doodle Doom, Peek a Boo, and Kisses to my X’s. As most people have noted, shipping was fast. Real fast. I placed an order on Monday morning and received it on Wednesday afternoon. To be fair, they are located only 40ish miles away, but still. My order was shipped on the day I placed it, and it doesn’t get much better than that!

When it arrived, it was packed in a box with each individual polish bubble wrapped and bagged in animal print bags, plus a little sticker. My name was written inside with a cute little message. Big points for the personal touch!

In my order I also received a free sample of their cuticle caviar – blueberry vanilla scented, and let me tell you… I am usually not a huge fan of scented products, but this smelled so good. Like, my hands smelled just like freshly baked blueberry muffins all day. I kept smelling them and probably looked weird doing it, but I don’t care. It was so good. I may place another order just for the cuticle caviar (and a few more polishes because why not, right? 😅). I promise you if I didn’t like it, I’d tell you… but I’m obsessed.

I’m guessing that not everybody receives this next part, and I did because I am local – but my order also included a notecard sized advert for the Chicago Polish and Beauty Expo! (If you are not local and received this in your order, let me know, I’m curious) I am definitely going next year, this is a fact. I hope to meet Carrie Duffy while I’m there 😁

The first polish I tried was Cock a doodle Doom obvs, because she is famous and is their most raved about. The brush it came with is excellent, and the brush is always my first critique on polishes. It’s a wide brush and makes application a breeze. The formula was thin, and I was skeptical. The first coat? Not it. The second coat? Still not it. The third coat? Ah, there she is. 🤩

It all started making sense from there. This polish is not opaque, and needs to be layered to get that deep, glow from within vibe. Because the formula is on the thin side, it does not feel like I have layers of gloopy polish stacked on – it almost feels like just one coat and sort of weightless. Fortunately, Sassy Sauce polish comes in a generous 15ml bottle so you won’t feel like you’re using it up too fast.

I was worried about the fact that CADD has a warm shift to it, because I am decidedly cool toned. To my surprise, it doesn’t really matter. My hands are not the star of the show this week. She is. I forgot I even have hands. There is only polish here.

I am a little bit sad that I won’t be able to try the other two polishes until next month, because I have a Halloween mani planned and I’m forcing myself to be extra festive this year. I will be reporting back on those soon! Overall though, I am very happy with the little ray of sunshine that was my first Sassy Sauce order and I’m looking forward to stacking my collection with more of their wares.

  1. Welcome to a great brand! I live across the country and my orders usually arrive in 2 days as well! 3 tops. Her polishes are seriously awesome. My favs are Fierce Mojo, Pigment of my Imagination and Chicago Fire. I get a lot of mileage (and versatility) out of LSD as well.

  2. You’re influencing me!! I’m looking to expand my collection of different brands and this is a gorgeous color 🙂
