I don’t love going to the salon, but I need my nails done for work, so I started trying to do at home. First time they totally peeled off, this time I lightly filed the surface of the nail before and I’m still getting some chipping the day or two after. Any tips? This is also just on my more heavily used right hand, not left

  1. Are you using your nails as tools? It looks like it might be so, especially if you’re right handed.

I think 2 things would help you – using rubbing alcohol after lightly buffing the nail and making sure to cap the free edge.

The first will remove the dust and oils from your nail to help the gel adhere better. The second will help prevent chipping if you use your nails as tools (scraping pans, peeling off stuff, etc). I hope this helps!
