I’m obsessed with this Pomp and Plum color from sally hansen. It’s quick dry and chips like crazy. I usually wouldn’t even have bought it but it was my perfect color, and now unfortunately I’m hooked. I NEED a similar color that lasts longer because painting my nails every other day is killing me 😂. Help! I like that it’s very dark red, and that it has brown and plum undertones. Any recommendations?

  1. Does it chip even with a sturdy topcoat? If this is the shade for you, then that seems like the simplest solution!

  2. Omg I have TWO FOR YOU! Three if you count a thermal:

Paradox polish: Jazzy hands This one is by far (out of the three I’m going to recommend) the most saturated oxblood. It totally scratches the oxblood itch for me. I put it on over nailtiques 2, and Lyn B’s be smooth base coat and covered it with Essie gel couture and it lasted over a week. No chips.

Lyn B designs: Mongolian death worm I used this on my friend two weeks ago. Definitely more plummy than bloody in 2 coats, but my friend who loves bloody, bloody reds says it’s too dark for her and it definitely in three coats gives good oxblood. Lasted her about 5 days, she got everything that I did on basecoat, but she only used Seche vite instead of Essie gel couture.

Uno Mas Colors: Crimson Shadow – in the cold State it’s the perfect oxblood for me and it transitions beautifully. I’ve had it on for two days now, and I’ve just did a bunch of house cleaning, not a chip. I did put a layer of Gothspeed over it to make it red or because it was looking pretty dark – but that’s what makes it a good oxblood!

My hands are dry from all the cleaning, and it’s transitioning to the warm state in this picture, but you can see what it looks like in the cold. Basecoated with nailtiques 2 and Nail Aid Keratin – topped with Essie GC.

  3. Are you using a base coat & top coat, or are you just applying the polish directly to your nail?

Essie Model Clicks is a beautiful dark burgundy wine shade with brown undertones. It looks darker on the nails than it does on their website I think. You can see some nice swatches on Laquergram

Just saw Holo Taco’s Devil’s Advocate at Ulta and it has a very similar vibe. Such a beautiful color!
