I know it's kinda pointless to rotate between different cuticle products, but I'm obsessed with pre-made cuticle oils and balms and I loooove to use a different one every night and I love discovering new ones!

A little review for all the ones I own in order of preference:

  • Essie apricot nail & cuticle oil: this is the cheapest I think out of all and probably my favourite, as it's very nourishing, easy to apply since it has a brush, doesn't take long to dry and the smell is absolutely divine! Strong but not overpowering apricot scent.

  • OPI to the rescue overnight cuticle balm: sooo rich! Extremely moisturising and enveloping, this is my no 1 balm of choice when I think my cuticles need the most help. It's a solid balm that I pick up with my nails and then place on top of each cuticle and spread. Absolutely the best to give my cuticles the greatest moisture. It's rich rich, so it's a nighttime only kind of product.

  • OPI pro spa Nail & Cuticle oil to go: Classic cuticle oil in a brush on pen, but it's not your "standard" cuticle oil. Another very nourishing option, since it contains avocado oil and cupuacu butter, this is quite a thick oil, you gotta squeeze pretty hard to have it come out, but it's great quality and with a fantastic "spa" scent. Unfortunately I think OPI is discontinuing this oil.

  • Chanel l'huile camelia: the fanciest of them all, this was a little treat to myself and I didn't regret it. It's texture is very interesting, as it's a gel with incredible slip and while it's very nourishing, it dries quite fast. Superb flowery scent.

  • Likaria pate: niche product, this is another solid balm but with exfoliating actives in it, so it's going to moisturise and also give a nice smoothing effect to the skin.

  • OPI Good as gold cuticle serum: not an oil, this is a liquidy serum that's perfect for daytime, since it's lightly moisturising and dries super fast without any greasiness. Still I use it for nighttime too sometimes when my cuticles are in great shape.

  • Kinetics almond cuticle oil: basic oil, does the job but it's a bit greasy. Nice almond scent but I'm not too crazy about it.

Cuccio revitalizing oil: I have the vanilla bean and sugar scent. This is a quite famous cuticle oil, but absolutely not my favourite. I don't find it very nourishing, is a little greasy, and when it sinks it I find my cuticles still needing something. It's very meh, scent is nice though.

I would prefer my cuticle oil to be available at a brick & mortar. So, I haven’t tried a whole bunch. I usually stick with Sally Hansen’s Vitamin E oil. I have yet to find jojoba oil in the wild, so that’s as good as it gets.

I do enjoy Kbshimmer’s cuticle oils, but I only order once a year.

  2. I used to like Essence’s Argan based cuticle oil, but then they swapped out and now it’s Almond and it stinks like my fingers are rotting, I hate it so much!!!

I usually buy regular argan oil from my local Druni, I’ve tried the jojoba oil and while it definitely absorbed faster, it’s never in stock anymore! I liked the Mooncat one a LOT but not for 16€ for 12ml plus intl shipping. Nope.

On my desk right now I currently have a bottle of argan oil, a small travel bottle of Urea cream, 2 pots of Unicorn Magic Skincare cuticle balm, one in the scent “Pleiadians” (white jasmine) and Hazelnut Latte (self explanatory I hope) plus a waffle scented Lotion of Immortality by Lucky 13. (the shrek theme got me) I am really picky about smells, but I love all of these!

Really big fan of the Unicorn Magic balms – especially the Hazelnut Latte, I bought two of those at PPU and then when I lost one, went to Sarah’s etsy to ask if she had any left and ended up with a big tub, her CS was stellar. Love her lip scrubs too.

  3. Haha, yes, I have a lot. Also many little pretty-smelling tubes of hand lotion, which I apply after oiling. Ironically I do not oil half as often as I should; usually just before bed. But it’s part of my nice bedtime self-care.

im a bit cheap about it and just buy a bigger bottle of jojoba oil and it lasts me forever. but i’d like to get some nice scented ones

  5. I currently only have two Cuticle Buddies from NBM! I keep one at home and one in my purse.

The Essie one was actually one of the very first cuticle oils I used and I also love the scent! Unfortunately that one went rancid on me so I’m a little weary of having too many.

  6. I loooooooove oiling my cuticles and moisturizing my hands, it feels like ultra self care. They’re all fairly easy to make on your own and technically nothing beats jojoba but Mooncat’s Elixir feels so luxurious, and the brush! I also love NBM’s vanilla scented one. I have all the materials to make scented oils but the packaging also helps a lot, I’m more likely to use it if it looks pretty.

Do you have a favorite among the ones you shared? Is the Chanel something you would re-purchase?

Edit: sorry I just saw the “in order of preference” part

  7. I have quite a few myself and I actually have one that I’m sure came as a free sample with some polishes I purchased recently, but it’s not labeled and so I have no idea what maker it came from🥴if I knew I’d buy it because it smells amazing and I love how it feels!
