I got this gel polish from DND nails and I am so disappointed with the color. The bottle is much more warm toned and has the fall vibe I was going for. I feel like on my nails it looks purple. Has anyone else had this experience with their polish?

Tbh, I would not have thought of that shade being butternut squash. I would have expected more orange. But maybe I’m thinking more the insides. lol

  2. i would be disappointed too!! totally different tones! i know shades can look different based on your skin tone after you apply it, but it seems very drastic here

  3. Maybe it needs another coat for the color to fully come through. Another thing you can do is add a white base prior to color. The second option normally works best. Buuuttt sadly, there are cases when colors don’t match the bottle at all.

Ive never trusted swatches directly on bottles or websites. They never ever look the same. I look at color brand and name of color on tik tok to see it on a real hand

  5. I had the same issue with Goodie Bag. I thought it was going to be this blue-grey-leaning-more-blue color, but it ended up being way more dark grey. Their pictures definitely show a more interesting color than it ends up actually being.

  6. I actually love that color and see no purple at all. Very fall-like. But DEFINITELY not the color of butternut squash, either inside or outside. Now Butter BRICKLE, maybe…

  7. Never assume the color of lid/bottle is the actual color of the actual product unless it’s white/black. Color also varies depends on skin tone.

I had the same issue with “Perfect Nude” except I ordered it in two formulas: the regular polish was an opaque purple / grey (not a perfect nude), but the SAME COLOR in the gel bottle was perfectly as advertised (pinkish nude, slightly sheer)! So they much have some issues with quality control? Not sure. All of the other colors I have by DND came as advertised (both gel & regular polish).
