My top coats keep messing up magnetics, so I’ve gone without, but it still feels a little tacky to the touch and so much less protected than when I have TC on. I didn’t realise how much of a difference it would make.

Does the top coat you have contain toluene? I’ve heard that can mess with magnetics pretty bad. It that’s the case I def recommend getting one that is toluene free and magnetizing after top coat!
I know this is pretty common advice, so forgive me if you have already heard it a million times, but did you know that you have to hold the magnetic wand over the nail while the top coat is drying? That helps the design stay. That may be the cause of your issues.

I went without topcoat on my last magnetic mani (cirque BAE) and stg it was the longest my mani has ever lasted. I use peel off base coat and usually get peelies within 1-2 days and this mani lasted I kid you not an entire dang week. I think because it was so thin it actually lasted longer than when I douse my nails in top coat chasing that gel look lol
