I don't really have anyone else that I can ask so I am hoping the hive mind of r/nails can answer my questions. I get UV gel refills every two weeks. After a day or two post refill, my nails seem to separate from the nail and often pop off. I'd say atleast one pops off in between refills and sometimes up to 3. Is this normal? If not, is it something I am doing wrong?

I’m not trying to be rude but are you sure these are gel and not acyclic with gel nail polish? I’ve never seen just gel nail polish do that and gel isn’t usually thick it’s just a polish. It’s common with acrylic due to moisture (water or natural oils) or improper nail prep.
Based on your retention issues and the way they currently look ( they’re okay. But too thick and clunky) i would find a new nail tech!
I recommend a whole new nail tech. These are poorly done.
Get a new tech. So so so thick!
I’ve only ever had gel pop off like that on my toes and it was after the gel polish had been there a month.
It looks very thick. It’s is biab gel? Just gel polish shouldn’t be much thicker than regular polish
I’ve had uv gel since the late 90’s. I’ve never had one pop off. The application is way too thick. And you natural nail should be drilled off to prevent that peeling. This is my very grown out, getting fill this week set. I ask for very thin, narrow almond. My current polish is regular polish I change out at home.

Gel should not peel off like that within a couple days after getting a fill. I could see it happening right before a fill or when you’ve gone too long between sets. I know that long nails tend to curve down and detach from the gel if they’re dry but that shouldn’t happen this soon. I’d find a new tech.
Wow, your natural nails look the same length for the most part. Why not have this terrible thick gel removed, shape your natural nails and just use regular polish or regular gel polish over top. It would look so much better.
When this happened to some of my nails my nails tech told me my nails had become dehydrated and needed to just apply cuticle oil over all my nail and underneath too. Made a huge difference for me
