Nope, no truth to that. I’m in my 50’s and have my nails about 12mm past the end of my fingers, plus they are painted. Nails are nails, if you want them long or short, it doesn’t matter. Maybe she’s a bit jealous that you keep your nails and skin in better shape than she does.
Just keep doing what makes you happy and if that means letting your nails grow, so be it.
