I see so many people buying these things around the holidays and I have to admit it does seem like its not worth it. Most of the time its items I only half want. I think I'd rather buy the one item full size then a few smaller ones that I only like a couple of them.

  1. Depends on the set and your needs/wants. If you won’t use a bunch of things in the set, then it’s not worth it because the advertised value doesn’t apply.

Honestly no they really are not “worth it.” The value proposition is very low, and the pricing can be sneaky. It makes a lot more sense to just pay a few more dollars for the full size product that you actually want, and return it if it doesn’t work out.

  3. If you have no interest in all of the products, they are often not worth it. Try to see if the items you want are available in trial size instead and compare the costs. An exception would be the perfume and cologne gift sets that come with a voucher to get a full sized bottle of one of the scents in the set, although some full sized bottles may be cheaper than others, so not a good idea unless you want to try 2 or more of the scents. One other thing is that sometimes the supposed values of the sets are over inflated and the actual value is much less. The price per ounce/mL is also often higher in travel sizes compared to the full size, although there are rare exceptions. Also travel size mascaras are a good buy in sets or travel sizes in general because full sizes often expire before you can use the entire tube but again the value of a set depends on how many of the items interest you.
