Shades B, C, and D are the satins typical of classic Japanese eyeshadows. They are sheer, with no glitter particles; the sheen comes from its emollient formula, which emphasises the natural lustre of skin. They adhere very well to the eyelid and produce no kickback in the pan. I apply them with a goat-hair brush, and they are beautiful as structure enhancers. The effect is reminiscent of natural redness around the eye.
Shade A is a thin, dry glitter. It has a peach-pink transparent base, and tiny glitter flecks of white, turquoise, and yellow. I find that it has difficulty adhering to a bare lid, and it is prone to hardpan. (I have tried a dry brush; I have tried a dampened brush; I have tried a dry fingertip, a wet fingertip, all to no avail — it is perpetually flaky and dusty.)
