I bought the Lunasol Alluring Feather collection yesterday at Takashimaya in Kyoto. A Lunasol makeup artist was present (thank heavens). The eyeshadow palette (Eye Coloration EX-08) contains green-yellow, light brown copper, blue-green and off white shades. It looks truly frightening in the photo and worse up close live. But it is gorgeous on the eyes because the shimmer isn’t outrageous and the texture is soft. I was shocked at how subtle the colors look – they’re there but not screaming at you. Obviously the MA didn’t layer it thick on my eyelids. She showed me how to apply it with subtlety.
The second surprise was the lip balm on the right of the palette (shown above). This lip balm is orange. Yes, orange, also terrifying to look at, but on the lips, beautiful and subtle. The balm is moisturizing. I had it on my lips for hours and did not need to apply my Vaseline lip balm.
Third surprise is the cheek cream: it’s not as orange, rather it’s kind of coral with pink in it. It does not feel sticky at all and it glides on easily. Lovely color that will suit most people. I was so pleased at the harmony of the colors on my face.
Finally I bought the eyebrow powder palette called Styling Eyezone Compact N in 02. This was released last March. It’s great for people whose eyebrows are either thinning out or whose eyebrows are sparse from over plucking. The MA showed me how to apply it. You can visit the Lunasol Japan website to see how to apply it and also how to apply any of the eyeshadows.
If you are thinking of buying anything from this collection, I suggest doing it right away. These limited edition items sell out fast and judging from the interest shown yesterday by Takashimaya visitors at the Lunasol pop-up stage, these colors are flying out the door.
