Image description: Before and hair I started using the Dr FORHAIR shampoos, as well as my current go-to hair routine products now. (Tsubaki hair mask, &Honey serum, Fino hair oil, Dr FORHAIR original shampoo and treatment).

My hair is low porosity, pretty dry, coarse, and has always been super thick but I had a heinous year where a lot of things started affecting my health (family, work etc) between 2023-2024 and my hair was coming out in clumps in the shower / when I brushed my hair respectively. I didn't notice it at first, because I didn't think it was a big issue. I also don't wash my hair everyday, nor do I really style / brush it (lazy hair) so I just figured that the hair shedding was just because I wasn't brushing daily. I only realised there was a big issue AFTER I saw a picture someone took of me and I just saw how awful my hair looked / my scalp's being so visible.

TRIAL:

Enter a few months of constant research and then: Dr FORHAIR. I was  skeptical at first because you can't really just use shampoo to fix your scalp, but I have been surprised and very happy with the results. I started using the shampoo in late October 2024, after the picture I saw of myself in May 2024.

  • Started with the Dr FORHAIR Folligen Original shampoo– which I completely switched out with from my regular shampoo. I also found out that this had no parabens or sulfates which I think helped also stopped my hair from frizzing on the occasion. I was using this daily and with a scalp massager. (I only wash my hair every 2-3 days because of my hybrid work conditions FYI). The feeling at first is underwhelming with the shampoo but you have to persist, I think. The scent grows on you and after a few weeks-months, you suddenly realise how much less hair sheds.
  • Eventually added in the Dr FORHAIR Folligen Treatment – which I would put on after the original shampoo, and over conditioner. I would lather this in for a few minutes, also with a scalp massager. The feeling of this is unexplainable, it's like having a fresh mint for your scalp. Within the first few uses I kept getting a hit of this fresh feeling where I could feel the surface of my scalp being cleanser of oils and debris.
  • By November – December 2024, I was started to drop my old conditioner and switch over to purely using the Tsubaki Premium Repair Hair Mask, and I know this might be controversial but I quite liked using this as a conditioner and not being too precious with it. I found that it did also helped my hair stay very soft and smooth. (Helped with the self esteem).
  • This may have also helped, as another factor, but around this time I had to commit to a doctor's visit to make sure I was okay – and not to my surprise, I was lacking B3, which can also lead to hair loss as well as healthy hair texture. I ended up also kicking up my diet to just try to make sure I was feeling better overall. I started taking my vitamins – not just for my hair but also I was just very tired all the time.
  • I also believe that sometimes the type of water you have in your city/country will affect your hair too – I live in Australia and we have have both hard/soft water depending on location and this can affect how your hair feels. I know that when I travel to the states, if I don't use a proper filtered tap, my hair will feel awful, in addition to shedding. I haven't tested this theory yet since I started using the Dr FORHAIR products, but it could be another factor that attributes to hair shedding – not sure of this.

REVIEW SO FAR?

As of now, April 2025, happy to share that the hair shedding during my showers and hair brushing has legitimately minimised by 90% – what I shed now looks more normal (after looking at comparisons online and also discussing experiences with friends) and I actually feel like there's a difference. My hair feels a lot more thick and 'lively!!', and also I've had a lot of hair growth, as well as my scalp just feeling more 'normal'. I was travelling in March 2025 (hence the after pic being in HCMC) and remember shouting "OH!" when my friend sent me my picture – I just didn't realise how much better my scalp looked (and felt).

I've purchased more bottles of the shampoo – there are a few different scents so I'm curious to try them, as well as other products too that I want to try from the range, but I really just am happy with where I am now with my haircare, in addition to overall health. My current routine is now:

  • Wash every 2-3 days – with one shower of the week where I just go with regular shampoo/conditioner (Tsubaki hair series, no parabens and sulfates) and the other two showers of the week I'll go in with the Dr FORHAIR shampoo, treatment and the Tsubaki hair mask. I always finish off with the &Honey repair serum, but am currently just trying out the Fino hair oil to change it up.

The other day I noticed more baby hairs at the front of my head which I've never paid attention to, which was my little push to share this post! I will say it takes time, patience and persistence, alongside everything else you need to do to stay healthy too, but hopefully this is part of the puzzle that some people may be looking for.
